Inspiration for the SuperFoods to the Rescue Menu
I was happy when the clock struck midnight and New Year’s Eve rolled around. It had already been a long, cold winter…brrr. Once January arrives I start anticipating the end of winter, always the eternal optimist! Considering that it was winter and post holiday season, I decided that I would create a heart-warming Comfort Food Detox Menu for my cooking classes! Just what everyone needs after the holiday season – a food Detox! I had studied Introductory Holistic Nutrition, so I have a base of knowledge and insight into food and nutrition. I zeroed in on the popular “SuperFoods” trend and spent a lot of time doing Internet research to zero in on each and every ingredient. There are at least 10 super foods to incorporate into your diet to naturally ward off heart disease, cancer, cholesterol, and more. Then I went to my library of recipes and matched ingredients with my favourite recipes. Then I set to work to create a delicious menu incorporating as many of the SuperFoods that I could squeeze into one yummy meal. Painstaking work to bring it all together, but as I created the menu everything just married together so well. It became not only the best SuperFoods Menu, but actually the ‘best’ menu of all of my cooking classes. Wow, delicious and nutritious all rolled into one ‘Super’ menu! Make this for yourself and feel better!!
This famous quote from Hippocrates says it all:

Resolutions
We all make resolutions every year…right?! Yes. But how many of us actually keep them…come on, I know you, be honest. That’s OK, don’t feel bad, we’re all cut from the same cloth. However…this year let’s try harder, crank it up a notch, turn over a new leaf and make the biggest resolution ever to start doing what you love in your life! Wow, that’s a big, lofty resolution. I’m inspired to boldly share this resolution because of an essay written by my 13-year old son wrote entitled “You Should Do What You Love.” Here it is:
“Did you know that if Adolf Hitler followed his passion, painting, there probably never would have been a World War II. That is just one reason that you may want to choose to follow what you love doing instead of working at a boring job. Also working at a job that you love will boost your self-esteem and make you happier, you’ll be able to be at home or be able to choose your days off. And you’re not wasting your life by not doing what you love!
If you follow your passion you will boost your self-esteem and make you happier because first of all you’re fulfilling yourself by doing what you really want to do. Also you will have fun and engross yourself in the work and not think about anything else. If you have a bad job you won’t enjoy it then you won’t do as well and then you’d be depressed and think you could have done better.
Secondly you’ll be at home and you will be able to choose your days off, that’s good because if you are feeling too busy and overwhelmed you can take a bit of a break and if your family or friends have an occasion they want you to go to, you can! That will help because you can take some weight off your shoulders and relieve some stress whenever you feel like it and you wouldn’t have a boss pressuring you.
And my last reason is that you wouldn’t be wasting your life by not doing what you love just to get money to survive! It’s usually mandatory to do that sometime in your life to get a head start but you don’t have to do that for all your life! And if you are doing what you love you won’t be wasting your time and making an impact on the world!
So in conclusion, you would have a great advantage in life by, having high self-esteem and being happy, you will be ably to take some stress off yourself and you will be doing something that people will remember! So remember, in the future that if you choose to do what you love, you’ll have the upper hand in life.”
Food for thought for 2016…do what you love!
