Take Heart Kombucha Hibiscus Mojitos.

Mojitos just got SO much better with so many added health benefits! Starting with Kombucha, a fermented, lightly sweetened black or green tea that packs a healthy punch and is loaded with probiotics. Kombuchas have been around for over 2000 years, originating from China, where they call the drink, the “immortal health elixir”. Hibiscus may also be excellent for heart health and reducing blood pressure. Drink up to your health, this healthy mojito is deliciously refreshing!

 2 limes cut into wedges
 8 leaves fresh mint
 4 leaves fresh basil
 ¼ cup red grapes, sliced in half
 ½ cucumber, quartered and thinly sliced
 1-3 tablespoons hibiscus simple syrup
 Crushed ice
 ¼ cup soda water
 ¼ cup coconut water
 Pinch Himilayan sea salt
 1 bottle of your favourite kombucha for topping
 
 
 
 Hibiscus Simple Syrup:
 ½ cup sweetener of choice (maple syrup, agave, cane sugar, etc.)
 ½ cup filtered water
 ¼ cup dried hibiscus flowers (found at fine health food stores)
 A splash of love
Hibiscus Simple Syrup.

Make this first: In a small sauce pan, combine sweetener and water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer about 3-5 minutes 3 Minutes. Add the dried hibiscus leaves, allow the mixture to steep for 5-10 minutes 5 Minutes and then strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer. Your beautiful red-tinged simple syrup is ready to go! Syrup with keep for at least 1 week in the fridge.

Mojito.

Place lime wedges into each of your 4 glasses, add the mint, basil, grapes, cucumber and hibiscus simple syrup, using a muddler, masher or long kitchen tool. Muddle the lime, mint, basil, grapes, cucumber + syrup together (squish everything together) to release the juices.

Fill about half the glass with ice and then add the soda water + coconut water, a slight pinch of salt and stir until well-combined.

Top the glass with a little more ice and then pour Kombucha over and gently stir to combine.

Garnish with fresh mint and DRINK to your health!
