Elixir from the north and King of the medicinal mushrooms!! Yes, it’s a mushroom, with notes of sweet birch and maple syrup combined!! Chaga has been used for centuries by indigenous cultures for both physical and emotional healing. Chaga is actually the ‘tree rot’ fungus that grows on birch trees that are found north of the 40th parallel, yes, true, believe me, PLUS it’s the MOST nutrient dense mushroom! We’re serving up an immune boosting, liver detoxifying and cell rejuvenating super elixir in the form of your favourite latte. This latte will give your body and brain a dose of healthy fats, immune support, liver love, and antioxidants.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon chaga medicinal mushroom powder (fine powder flour-like consistency)

1 cup full fat organic coconut milk, more or less to taste (I LOVE coconut milk, so I add a lot)!

1 cup filtered water

1 tablespoon raw, unpasteurized honey or organic coconut palm sugar

1/8 teaspoon organic ground cardamom

1/8 teaspoon organic ceylon cinnamon (true cinnamon)

1/8 teaspoon organic ground ginger

1/8 teaspoon organic ground nutmeg

Dash of organic ground cloves

A splash of love

Method

You can buy chaga mushroom powder at fine health food stores or if you have pieces of the mushroom, you can finely grind chaga into powder in your spice grinder! In a medium saucepan, bring the following to a boil for 15 minutes 15 Minutes: chaga mushroom powder, coconut milk and water. Simmer for 30 minutes 30 Minutes (or to extract maximum nutrients, simmer Chaga mushrooms for 3-4 hours).

Add sweetener, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Pour your delicious latte into cups, garnish with ground cloves and indulge. Also note: if you were to strain Chaga – you can reuse your Chaga another two or three times! Stay Young!
